A curated list of lake homes on Lake Martin
Published: 06.18.2024
For those who are looking for a sampling of lake homes in hopes that you might find something that will fit your personal needs or taste, this blog is for you. We picked a selection of lake homes in different areas of the lake and with different asking prices. We hope that you enjoy perusing these lovely homes wherever you might be today. That is not quite as good as coming to the lake for a visit, but maybe this can help you start a shopping list!

White Oak Landing – North end of the lake
White Oak Landing is one of the most easily accessible waterfront neighborhoods on the north side of the lake, especially if you are coming from Birmingham or Georgia. Other than a short stretch (with a golf course view), White Oak Landing is accessible by four-lane highway from either direction. Located within the city limits of Alexander City, this is one of the few neighborhoods on the lake with professional police, fire, and EMT service.
Our sample property, 555 Transom Drive, is a brand-new home built by Lowder New Homes, one of the oldest residential home building companies in the Deep South. This waterfront lake home comes with lots of space—four bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, living room, rec room, outdoor living space, and a developed waterfront with a pier.
The best thing about White Oak Landing is that the homes have most if not all of the features of more expensive lake homes. Priced at $1,425,000, we think it is worth a look.

Stillwood – Southeast portion of the lake
This affordably priced lake neighborhood is located on the southeast side of the lake offering easy access to Auburn (game day is a breeze), Montgomery, and most importantly Chuck’s Marina and Chuckwalla’s Pizza! What is a trip to the lake without a slice of Chimney Rock pizza? The cottages of Stillwood are a collection of five cottages that share, equally, waterfront access. Each home has unobstructed views and access to the lake, a shared amenity space, assigned boat slip, and boat/trailer parking.
Our second property is 124 Water’s Edge, and as the street name suggests, the home is on the edge of the lake. Recently built by Blue Creek Building, LLC, this story-and-a-half cottage offers room for the whole crowd with four bedrooms and two-and-one-half baths. The lake entry level offers an open-concept kitchen/living/dining space with lake views and an oversized master suite, which are perfect for a couple’s getaway. Upstairs, there are three oversized bedrooms for family or guest use when they come to join in the fun.
This home, as we mentioned above, is affordably priced at $839,000. We think it’s a great way to enter the lake!

Castaway/Andrews Mill Area – South end of the lake
This is a very popular area on the south end of Lake Martin. For those families who have been coming to the lake for 50-plus years, this area has a familiar feel. Easily accessed from Montgomery and well worth the drive for everyone else, this area is noted for its big-water views and private lake locations.
This featured property at 88 Mason Road is a relatively new addition to the area. This lake home was designed by Mitch Ginn and built in 2017. Being newer is okay—it fits in nicely with the surrounding properties. In fact, this house is one of the neighborhood favorites with its great design, large outdoor living spaces, and great waterfront features.
With just under 4,000 square feet of conditioned space, five bedrooms, and four-and-one-half baths, we know that this lake home will have plenty of room for all of your new lake friends. It’s built like a mansion and reasonably priced at $2,450,000. Check it out soon—it won’t last.

The Ridge on Lake Martin – South/Center of the lake
The Ridge is the largest lakefront community on Lake Martin. Over 500 properties have been developed and sold in this amenity-rich community. The Ridge boasts The Ridge Club, multiple parks, miles of trails, community boat launch, Lake Martin’s largest marina, The Ridge Marina, and multiple phases with diverse property types.
An early favorite waterfront home in The Ridge is this example located at 49 Shady Ridge. This home, designed and built by renowned architect Bobby McAlpine, set a high bar for other architects to reach. We love the cool cabin feel in this multi-level charmer. The main level has a fabulous kitchen, huge dining room, and an incredible living room.
This home is all about the views and the uninterrupted band of windows on the second floor that feature open views to the lake from virtually every angle. We think this is a “must-see” property. Recently updated and priced at $2,789,000, this is a bargain for a masterpiece.

Windermere West – East/center of the Lake
What a wonderful lake neighborhood. This property, like many other Windermere West homes, has a terrific blend of a quiet, private setting, calm waterfront and big-water views. This area is close to Russell Crossroads with Catherine’s Market, SpringHouse, and Fanny Goldmine Diner.
The vitals on our sampled house on 496 Windy Wood are five bedrooms, four-and-one-half bathrooms, gorgeous kitchen, expansive outdoor living, two-car carport, custom pier, and 211 feet of gorgeous waterfront. This is a large lake home with plenty of indoor and outdoor room to roam, especially for the price. At just $1,945,000, this might be the best deal on the lake!

The Heritage – Center of the lake
This is the new master-planned community that has all of Lake Martin buzzing. The Heritage is an upscale, amenity-rich development. The first completed amenity is the beautiful and private Wicker Point Golf Club with the Coore and Crenshaw-designed course. Golf Digest recognized this course as one of the top three new courses in 2023. The other key amenity, The Benjamin Lake Club, is under construction and scheduled to open in June of 2025.
Our sample property, 431 Luanne’s Way, is a rare offering for The Heritage as one of the first completed “for-sale” homes in the community. To date, the vast majority of sales—over 100 waterfront properties—have been to owners designing custom lake homes. Construction activity in The Heritage has been setting the pace for Lake Martin.
Like all Heritage waterfront properties, the views are spectacular. You can see vast stretches of big water from virtually every room. The vitals of this, dare we say, very cool lake home are five bedrooms, five bathrooms, two screened porches (one for grilling), two family rooms, and a two-car garage. For those who come to the lake to “dive in,” this house has two options. Of course, there is the lake, and there is the custom lakeside pool. Either way, you’re wet.
This beautiful property was built to last by Legacy New Homes, one of Lake Martin’s best building companies. We invite you to compare this listing, priced at $4,600,000, with any comparable home.
