Naturalist Cabin at Russell Crossroads

Let’s talk numbers! How many mammals? Birds? Ferns? Fishes? Russell Forest has an amazing amount of plant and animal species, and Naturalist Marianne will bring some samples to the Naturalist Cabin and discuss the variety of representatives from each classification that can be found right here in your big backyard. You will be surprised at the numbers that contribute to the biodiversity in Russell Forest. This display will supplement your student’s science lessons with relatable local examples of flora and fauna. Appropriate for all ages!

Guided Nature Tour

Saturday, September 17 – 7am
Meet at Willow Point Cutoff Trailhead

Wake up and hit the trail! Start the morning with Naturalist Marianne in Russell Forest as we wander the woods identifying the variety of plant and animal life we discover. In addition to learning from the finds in the forest, we will search for wet residents keeping cool as the season prepares for change. This energetic hike will offer both learning and exercise. Insect repellent will be provided—bring your own drinking water and comfortable shoes. Appropriate for participants ages 5–105.

Registration required! There is a $10 fee for this program. Please contact our Naturalist at 256.496.2710 or [email protected] to inquire and to register.
