After weeks of never-ending rain, the forecast for this Saturday’s Russell Forest Run 5K and 10K looks bright. Cool and sunny should make this annual run through the forest even more breathtaking. Despite the recent weather, the condition of the trails is outstanding.

Runners will find a new route this year as they hit the trails at Russell Crossroads for the 11th annual Russell Forest Run. The course will now take runners under Highway 63, and it will offer a more spectacular view from Heaven Hill for the 10Kers! Take a look at the new course map!

Entry fee is just $40 per runner/walker (increases to $50.00 after midnight on the 28th) and includes the long-sleeve T-shirt, and the famous after-party at The Stables with live entertainment, cold beer, and our Famous Grits Bar, as well as the awards ceremony.

The finish line, this year, is closer to The Stables on the former outbound part of the race. The changes will give repeat runners a different feel with the new scenery. After the cannon start at Catherine’s Market, the differences for both races will become very obvious!

Registration for the 2020 runs is open, and can be completed online right up until 7:30 on race day! Over the past ten years, the Russell Forest Run has donated nearly $80,000 to the Alexander City Schools Education Foundation. Come be a part and bring your running/walking friends for a very good cause—plus, in the end, it is a lot of fun!

See you on Leap Day!
