Getting the Party Started: Lake Martin Edition–Summer 2021

We are all about that “lake life” aren’t we? I certainly know our families are. After Christmas, it seems to be atop the list of our conversation with remarks such as, “I cannot wait to get the boat out” or “How long till the water comes back up? I could use some boat therapy.”

What is true for us may be true for you as well. Lake Martin is both our workplace, but more importantly our place of peace and “self-medication.” As we remain in the throes of the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, it appears that many others in Alabama, Georgia, and surrounding southern states (even a few northern states too) have stumbled upon this magical place we like to call home. This statement is further verified by the demand for Lake Martin homes and watercraft, like we haven’t witnessed in the past decade!

That being said, welcome to the Lake Martin family. Whether you are new to Lake Martin or if you have been a part of the lake family for many years, we are glad you are here. In the course of our business (selling and buying homes), it is often the community that confirms for home buyers that they are making the right decision, both financially and emotionally for their families. Without the strength and bond of our community, Lake Martin is “just another destination” on the map. We are so much more than just another destination.

Aside from the beautiful, clean water, endless hiking trails, and all boating activities that make Lake Martin so wonderful, we are also so fortunate to have a bounty of restaurants and entertainment that set us apart from every other lake in the Southeast.

Starting early spring, lake restaurant favorites such as The Landing at Parker Creek, Chuck’s Pizza, and Bluff’s Daiquiri Bar all re-open for the summer season. Live entertainment can be enjoyed weekly at the Friday On The Green series at Russell Crossroads. Check out Catherine’s Market before the music to see if they have any wine specials to enhance the weekly event.

Kowaliga Restaurant (open year-round) expands their operating hours throughout the “lake season.” Looking for a fine dining experience? SpringHouse offers the best premier dining for both cuisine and libations. If you are looking for a lighter fare, try their brunch on Sundays.

Another personal favorite of lake-goers is Copper’s Grill inside Stillwaters. Copper’s is known for a fun, family-friendly atmosphere and hosts live music almost every weekend throughout the year. As the warm weather arrives, their outdoor patio space opens up, and Copper’s transforms into a mini amphitheater in the summer months. Coming from the other side of the lake? No problem. Give Copper’s a call, and they are happy to taxi you via golfcart from Harbor Point Marina.

Opening days for other popular destinations

The Landing at Parker Creek, a popular lakeside eatery, has announced their opening day for April 16 at 11am.

Bluff’s Daiquiri Bar at Harbor Point Marina opened March 17 for St Patrick’s Day!

Gus’s Hot Dogs will also be moving to Bluff’s this summer. Check out their Facebook page for updates and the menu!

Chucks Pizza, with the best lakeside pizza in the South, opens April 10.  Chuckwalla’s Pizzeria – 256.825.7733.
