There is so much we don’t see around us. In September, Naturalist Marianne will give us a taste of just how vast the array of species in Russell Forest really is.

Naturalist Cabin at Russell Crossroads

Let’s talk numbers! How many mammals? Birds? Ferns? Fishes? Russell Forest has an amazing amount of plant and animal species, and Naturalist Marianne will bring some samples to the cabin and discuss the variety of representatives from each classification that can be found right here in your big backyard. You will be surprised at the numbers that contribute to the biodiversity in Russell Forest. This display will supplement your student’s science lessons with relatable local examples of flora and fauna. Appropriate for all ages!

Guided Nature Tour

First Day of Fall!
Saturday, September 23 – 7am
Meet at Willow Point Cutoff Trailhead

It’s the first day of fall! Wake up and hit the trail! Start the morning with Naturalist Marianne in Russell Forest as we wander the woods identifying the variety of plant and animal life we discover. In addition to learning from the finds in the forest, we will discuss how seasonal changes affect the species we see. This energetic hike will offer both learning and exercise. Insect repellent will be provided—bring your own drinking water and comfortable shoes. Appropriate for participants ages 5–105.
