There Are Tons of Fourth of July Activities Around the Lake

Fourth of July is the epicenter of summer fun, especially on and around Lake Martin. There’s plenty to do for the whole family. Below is just a sampling of local Independence Day holiday events.
Celebrate Freedom

Wednesday, July 3 – 6-10pm
BRHS Band Practice Field, Alexander City
In 2005, Marshall Street Church began an outreach to our surrounding communities on July 3rd of every year to celebrate God and Country. This year’s artists include headliner Justin French, with special guests Jordan St. Cyr and Belle Isle Worship.

Fourth of July Boat Parade

Thursday, July 4 – 10am
Kowaliga Marina
The Fourth of July Boat Parade is a long-standing Lake Martin tradition, and it seems to grow every year.
Scores of boats slowly parade from Kowaliga Marina to Children’s Harbor in a festive and patriotic holiday display. Prizes are awarded for Tallest Flag, Largest Flag, Most Creative Theme, and Most Patriotic Crew. Two prizes are awarded for each category.

Thursday, July 4

Fireworks: 9pm
The AMP on Lake Martin
Up first, The Bank Walkers, Lake Martin’s Favorite cover band will kick things off at 6:30 with some new tunes on their set list—so make sure you claim your spot early!
Following The Bank Walkers and the traditional Hula Hoop contest, The AMP welcomes Taylor Hicks! From Birmingham, Alabama, Taylor has just about done it all. He bought his first harmonica for $2 when he was 16 and won American Idol when he was 29!

StillWaters Golf Cart Parade
Thursday, July 4 – 9:30am
StillWaters Residential Association Building
Watch golf carts decorated in all forms of red, white and blue parade through the StillWaters residential area. The procession will be completed at Copper’s Grill with candy, beads and music. All attendees should meet at the StillWaters Residential Association Building at 9:30am for the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem. The parade will begin at 10am. Parade participants are limited to StillWaters residents, but all spectators are welcome.
Arti Gras
Friday & Saturday, July 5 & 6 – 9am-4pm
Russell Crossroads
Mark your calendars and come to Russell Crossroads for the thirteenth annual Arti Gras art show! Make your 4th of July celebration special with a unique piece of art, ranging from jewelry to pottery and more. Bring your friends and family to discover the diverse offerings at this maker’s market!

Friday on the Green – Jonathan Bloom
Friday, July 5 – 6:30-8:30pm
The Town Green at Russell Crossroads
Friday evening Jonathan Bloom is back on the Green Stage doing a few of those things that he really loves! Playing barefoot, singing songs, smiling and hanging out on the Green with his family and friends. Come early and claim your spot.

The Town Green at Russell Crossroads
Yoga On The Green is designed for all levels from beginner to advanced, so come join us!
We have a wonderful group of certified instructors again this year, a big thanks to them – Barbara Sokol, Abby Brown Glass, and Cammy Day. Great leaders that can take care of the beginner as well as the advanced. If you are wanting to give Yoga a try, then this is the place to start!

Wildlife Presentations
Friday & Saturday, July 5 & 6 – 9am-4pm
Naturalist Cabin at Russell Crossroads
Myths – Stop into the Naturalist’s Cabin during Arti Gras to see an exhibit of local Russell Forest representatives and learn about the role they play in the woods. You’ll discover what they eat, how they live, and what types of habitats they prefer. Naturalist Marianne will be on hand to interpret the displays and also tell you all about the myths surrounding some of our local wildlife.
